VANDERBIJLPARK – Police have tightened the screws on criminals after 24 suspects were arrested during a high-impact crime prevention operation.

The operation, carried out by Sedibeng Cluster police officers alongside various multidisciplinary law enforcement agencies, targeted crime hotspots as part of an ongoing stability operation aimed at restoring law and order.

Among those arrested were 14 undocumented foreign nationals, two suspects found in possession of unlicensed firearms, five suspects arrested for drug possession, and three suspects caught with illicit cigarettes.

Police also clamped down on traffic violations, issuing 67 traffic fines during the operation. Vanderbijlpark SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu said the operation highlights the commitment of law enforcement agencies to tackling crime and making communities safer.

“These operations demonstrate the dedication of members on the ground to fight all forms of criminal activity in our communities,” said Sigcu.

He added that Vanderbijlpark Station Commander Brigadier Phiwe Ndwandwe commended all officers who took part in the operation for their hard work and professionalism.

“Brigadier Ndwandwe expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the members involved. He also emphasised the importance of working together with other relevant stakeholders, as this teamwork continues to produce positive results,” Sigcu said.
