House robbery, murder, and attempted murder

She was bleeding heavily and gasping for air.

EVATON.- The Evaton Police are investigating a case of a house robbery, attempted murder and murder following a tragic incident at Evaton West, Ext 11 last Wednesday.

Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi reported that at approximately 11:30, police responded to a house robbery and murder. Upon arrival, they were informed by the husband of the victim that his 62-year-old wife and 88-year-old mother-in-law had been inside the house during the incident.

“The 62-year-old woman, who operates a loan business from the same address, had asked her husband to go to Evaton Mall to buy groceries. When he returned, he found the living room door closed. Upon entering, he noticed the carpet was wrapped and upon unfolding it, he saw bloodstains leading to the bedroom,” said Msibi.

She added that following the blood trail, the husband discovered his wife lying on the bedroom floor, facing upwards. Her face was swollen and injured, and she had stab wounds below her chin and on her head. She was bleeding heavily and gasping for air, and was immediately taken to Sebokeng Hospital for treatment.

“Tragically, the mother-in-law was found lying next to her daughter. She had a swollen face, a stab wound near her collarbone and a fracture on the left side of her head. Emergency services arrived but were unable to save her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The house had been ransacked and an undisclosed amount of money, along with other valuables, was stolen.  No arrests have been made yet. A case has been opened at Evaton Police Station for further investigation.
