Sebokeng Police support Thabo Vuyo students
Thabo Vuyo Resource Centre is one of the schools that always welcomes visitors with a warm heart
SEBOKENG.- The Sebokeng police members together with the Community Policing Forum (CPF), YCDP, and GTW held a Disability Awareness in honour of Thabo Vuyo Resource Centre students last week.
The Principal of Thabo Vuyo Resource Centre, Hope Thandi Hlongwane said the Centre trains children with the following Disabilities:
– Severe intellectual disability (SID)
– Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
– Cerebral Palsy (CP)
– Epileptic
– Down Syndromes
– Behavioural Disorder
– Emotional Challenge
– Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
– Partially Blind
– Hard of hearing
She added that she is proud of how talented her learners are, “As a school, we have students who do Latin dance, Gumboot dance and music.”
She further said it is through the support of her Deputy Principals, Mokone Malile and Mpontsheng Motaung, as well as the supportive staff that takes care of more than 360 children. Well-known local artist Masedi Mokhothu and his friend Jeezy Macala were the entertainers of the day.
Mokhothu was motivated by one of the students who sang most of his songs and it made him feel honoured to be an inspiration to the youth.
CPF Chairperson, Biggie Nketle reminded the audience that the Thabo Vuyo Resource Centre is one of the schools that always welcomes visitors with a warm heart and the learners lend an ear when addressed. As part of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF), Constable Mbowani addressed all attendees about bullying, while Sergeant Maria Molefi addressed the learners about:
– GBVF
– Sexual offence
– Trafficking in person
– Initiation schools
The management of the school handed a certificate of appreciation to Sebokeng SAPS and thanked them for their continued support.
