Sensational start for Mofokeng in 2025

Mofokeng has been consistent for Orlando Pirates for the past two years since he was promoted to the senior team.

SEDIBENG. – Sharpeville-born sensation, Relebohile Mofokeng started the year where he left off last year.

He started the year like a house on fire when he scored his second CAF Championship League goal when Orlando Pirates beat Stade d’ Abidjan 3-0 at Orlando Stadium over the weekend. He scored an opener for the Pirates walking the ball into the empty net after some exciting interchange passes. Mofokeng has been consistent for Orlando Pirates for the past two years since he was promoted to the senior team.

This former School of Excellence product has been referred to as a ‘Captain of Ama 2000’ because he is one of the youngest players in PSL to date. It was no surprise when Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos included him in the team for his performance.

He never disappointed Broos.

There is no doubt that Mofokeng will be part of the Bafana Bafana team for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco. His selection will be justifiable considering his current performance for his team in the Hollywood Bet Premier Soccer League and CAF competition. The support Mofokeng received from his parents could be the reason for his consistent performance as they attend almost all the games especially when the Pirates play in Gauteng.

They were on the stand when Mofokeng scored in the CAF match over the weekend. His father, Sechaba, was a great soccer player and played for Tembu Royals in the Motsepe Foundation Championship formerly the National First Division League. He scored a brilliant goal against Amazulu in the Nedbank Cup which is now trending on social media after many learned he is Rele’s father.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sechaba said as parents they will give their son the support he needs to be successful. “We will always be there for him supporting his football career as parents.”
