Local man under fire over namesake confusion
SASOLBURG – A local man fears for his life because of people confusing his identity with that of a namesake in the Eastern Cape.
Jaco Pieterse in the Eastern Cape is a school principal who is being investigated by the police in connection with the rape of a seven-year-old girl.
What makes matters worse is that so far there is no concrete evidence that the school principal is guilty of rape, although he is also already being crucified.
AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit, which represents the Matatiele school principal Jaco Pieterse in his attempt to file cases of defamation and threats of violence, says it will immediately withdraw from the case if evidence is presented that implicates Pieterse in the rape of the girl.
However, the school principal’s life will never be the same again, even if his innocence is proven.
Vaal’s Jaco
The Vaal’s Jaco Pieterse is an ordinary family man and handyman by profession, who is now under attack and threats on social media.
Facebook “detectives” started attacking the wrong Jaco, and from there things only got worse.
Jaco says his phone doesn’t stop ringing, and the death threats are pouring in on WhatsApp. This is now also affecting his work, because he is too afraid to answer his phone and thus losing customers.
He also fears that there is a stigma attached to him and that prospective customers who don’t know him will not allow him into their homes.
“My only sin is that my name is Jaco Pieterse. I’m just an ordinary man who wants to work and support my family,” says Jaco.
