EVATON.- The Orlando Pirates Greater Sebokeng Supporters Club Branch didn’t want to be outshone as they also played their part in celebrating Mandela’s 67 minutes on Mandela Day.

The club supporters visited the struggling mother in Small Farms to finish what they had started last month. Sedibeng Ster carried the story of these clubs’ supporters responding to an “emergency call to help a mother and her grandchildren who were desperately in need of help, under the headline ‘Members step up to help a struggling family’.”

This family was living in poor conditions in a shack. The team responded to the call to help the mother and her grandchildren by donating some food parcels and clothes. However, seeing that there was still a lot that needed to be done, these supporters went back to finish what they had started as part of their contribution on Mandela Day.

This is a day that the family won’t forget seeing their shack being transformed and receiving some new kitchen units donated by the club’s supporters.Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Mzwakhe Zondo, who is responsible for the club’s publicity, said Mandela Day was a perfect day to go back to finish the project as promised to the family.

“We, as the committee, agreed to go back to the family as part of our 67-minute contribution to finish what we started last month.
We are very happy that the family will at least live in much better conditions. We dedicated Mandela Day to help the family,” he concluded.
