Omphile Cognitive Development Centre embarks on GBV Fun Run & Aerobics Awareness

"It was a day filled with fun, but most importantly, people went home better informed about how to address GBV in their homes and neighbourhoods."

SEBOKENG. – Omphile Cognitive Development Centre, in conjunction with Thabong Shopping Centre, recently hosted a Fun Run and Aerobics Awareness event aimed at raising awareness about gender-based violence (GBV).

The event, held at the shopping centre, drew an enthusiastic crowd.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Mpho Maputsoe from Omphile Centre explained that the initiative was designed to educate communities about GBV and femicide, providing information on how to respond and seek help when confronted with such challenges. Maputsoe commended the community for turning out in large numbers to support the cause.

“We want to thank everyone who came to support this initiative, including our stakeholders. It was a day filled with fun, but most importantly, people went home better informed about how to address GBV in their homes and neighbourhoods,” he said.

The day featured a lively fun run and aerobics sessions that even drew in shoppers passing through the centre. Beyond the activities, the programme created a platform to share vital knowledge about recognising abuse and taking action.

“This remains one of the biggest challenges in our communities, and as Omphile Cognitive Development Centre, we are committed to doing everything we can to fight this pandemic,” Maputsoe added.
