Motsamai engages Lesedi Youth
Young residents raised concerns about unemployment, poor service delivery, DHA backlogs, internet inequality, and infrastructure challenges, while Motsamai committed to taking their concerns to authorities and prioritising infrastructure-led economic growth.
DA mayoral candidate for Lesedi Local Municipality Mokete Motsamai held an Imbizo‘Lesedi puts youth voices at the centre of service delivery’. During this engagement, Motsamai extensively engaged young people from within and around the municipality about issues affecting them.
Held at the Old Apostle Church in Kwazenzele, Ward 12, the engagement drew young residents to form part of an upbeat and engaged atmosphere, providing a direct platform to raise concerns with their leadership.
The objective of the engagement was to give young people a platform to highlight their issues in their own voice and provide solutions to some of the issues.
Speaking to Ster North, Motsamai said this is a way to ensure that his Manifesto speaks to the needs of the community.
Young people in attendance noted the lack of quality services, unemployment, joblessness, and poverty, DHA backlogs, restructuring of informal settlements, Stormwater drainage reform, internet inequality, and lack of training facilities and donor partnerships as some of the issues that plague them.
In response, Motsamai committed to taking the issues raised to the relevant authorities, further promising to follow up with participants on progress.
“The youth of Ward 12 have spoken clearly. Their challenges are real and deserve real solutions – not empty promises. We are committed to ensuring every young person in Lesedi has access to services, opportunities, and a future worth fighting for.
Speaking on plans in the pipeline, should he take office, Motsamai said: “Economic growth can happen once the Lesedi focuses on infrastructure investment and development. That is the basic catalyst for growth; thereafter, we attract investment into the municipality. That’s the blueprint, and that’s how we get the youth working and a functioning local economy.”
Motsamai is set to host more engagements with the Lesedi community.
