Final nail in the coffin for Perfect Academy

“Congratulations to Boipatong FC and Ben 10 FC for representing Sedibeng in the play-offs."

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Perfect Academy has seen its hopes of finishing as runners-up in the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League dashed.

The team’s chances slipped away on Saturday afternoon after they were held to a goalless draw by Moponisi United FC in a must-win match at Vanderbijlpark Hoërskool.

Perfect Academy needed a victory while hoping that second-placed Ben 10 FC would drop points against 106 Magista FC. However, Ben 10 FC secured maximum points away in Heidelberg against all odds.
A win for Perfect Academy would have kept the race for second place alive until the final games of the season.

However, they ultimately blew their chance against a Moponisi United FC side that was also competing for the runner-up spot.

Perfect Academy has only itself to blame for its current situation.

At one stage, they looked set to win the league title while sitting at the top of the table. Unfortunately, they dropped points in crucial matches that they should have won. Their biggest setbacks came at home, where they failed to make the most of their ground advantage, suffering a 1-0 defeat to VUT FC and drawing 2-2 against Remember Elite Sports Academy.

The weekend draw against Moponisi United FC proved to be the final nail in the coffin. Following the match, Perfect Academy Coach Sechaba Mofokeng took to social media to congratulate their rivals.

“Congratulations to Boipatong FC and Ben 10 FC for representing Sedibeng in the play-offs,” he wrote on his social media platforms.

In another league decider played on Saturday, Metro Stars FC defeated Remember Elite Sports Academy 4-2 at Isak Steyl Stadium. Although it was a must-win match for Metro Stars FC, the victory came too late for them.
