Bishop Vincent Jones ‘serves two masters’
"The two organisations are currently working together in pursuit of common goals and shared aspirations for the people they serve."
SEDIBENG. – Although serving as a councillor in the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) on the votes of the supporters of the New Horizons Movement (NHM), Bishop Vincent Jones is the Sedibeng Regional Chairperson of the Afrika Mayibuye Movement (Mayibuye).
Jone was recently revealed by incoming ELM Executive Mayor, Hassan Mako, as the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Human Settlements.
Bishop Jones remains a councillor of the New Horizons Movement (NHM) and will continue to serve in that capacity until the end of the current term of office.
Speaking exclusively to Sedibeng Ster, Mayibuye National Organiser, Patrick Sindane said that Jones remains a councillor of the New Horizons Movement (NHM) and will continue to serve in that capacity until the end of the current term of office.
“At the same time, he serves as the Sedibeng Regional Chairperson of the Afrika Mayibuye Movement. This should be understood within the context of the existing alliance between the NHM and the Afrika Mayibuye Movement.”
He is not an isolated case.
Sindane said that the two organisations are currently working together in pursuit of common goals and shared aspirations for the people they serve.
Furthermore, he added that Jones is not an isolated case.
“Across the country, there are numerous currently serving public representatives who have joined the Afrika Mayibuye Movement and who occupy leadership positions in various structures of the organisation, while continuing to fulfil their existing public mandates.”
Sindane added that Mayibuye remains committed to building broad unity to advance the interests of communities and promote meaningful social, economic and political transformation.
