Big win for Ezenkosi
It was hugs and celebrations after the referee blew the final whistle, with Cosmos boss/coach Jomo Sono showing much relief.
VANDERBIJLPARK.- Jomo Cosmos redeemed themselves on Tuesday afternoon with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Dube Continental FC.
The ABC Motsepe League clash at Isak Steyl Stadium was a crucial must-win for Cosmos. Following back-to-back consecutive defeats, the team, famously known as Ezenkosi, needed the points to pull away from the threat of relegation.

For much of the match, it looked like the points would be shared. Both sides struggled to find the back of the net, blowing hot and cold in front of the goal. However, Cosmos finally broke the deadlock in the dying minutes of the game to secure all three points. The forwards demonstrated their quality, which makes them the most feared outfit in the league.

While Cosmos has all the qualities to compete for the league title, looking at their squad, especially their striking force, poor finishing has cost them dearly this season. The team currently sits in 12th place with 30 points from 26 games.

The focus now shifts to their next match against the University of Johannesburg. A win will see them move into the top eight of the league standings. This is an away game for Ezenkosi.

He said it was a difficult game with their opponents also desperate for three points.
WORDS FROM COACH: “We will keep on fighting because there are still more games to play, and I’m confident that we will be in a better position at the end of the league.
This was an important win for us, and like I always say, we play well but are let down by poor finishing. This is something that we always work on at training.”
