SEDIBENG.- Young Pirates FC is ready to start their 2026/2027 ABC Motsepe League campaign on a positive note when they visit Jomo Cosmos at the Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark on Saturday, with kick-off at 15:00.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Pirates FC coach Isaac Mphasane said his side is ready for Ezenkosi after an intensive pre-season that included PSL teams.

Pirates wrapped up against Mamelodi Sundowns at Chloorkop.

Mphasane expressed confidence about having a great season ahead even though they were recently knocked out of the ABC Motsepe League Nedbank Cup Preliminary Round, shifting their full focus to the league.

Appointed head coach during the pre-season, Mphasane worked hard preparing the club alongside management, who signed exciting new players to strengthen the squad.

While he acknowledges to Sedibeng Ster Sport that playing away against Cosmos will not be an easy outing, he remains confident and maintains a lot of respect for experienced coach Bra J (Jomo Sono), whom he grew up watching.

“Playing against African champions Mamelodi Sundowns was a great experience that tested the team’s character and readiness,” Mphasane said.

He has called for club supporters to come out in numbers to rally behind the team on Saturday.
