Young athlete promises to make school proud

"I’m going to make Sedibeng and my school proud bringing home a medal."

SHARPEVILLE. – Kgomoco Primary School teachers, learners, and parents marched in the streets of Vuka Section celebrating the achievement of one of their learners, Pule Shamase (13), on Wednesday.

Shamese who is in grade 7, is one of the local learners set to represent Sedibeng in the Provincial Schools Track and Field Athletics Championship scheduled to take place at Oscar Mpete Athletics Stadium in Limpopo from March 23-26.

He achieved this feat after he finished first and second position in the track and field category at an event held in Boksburg on March 8-9. The school saw it fitting to celebrate the achievement of this young athlete. His parents, Tseko Bodibe and Sizakhele Shamase were also invited to celebrate their son’s remarkable achievement.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, the young athlete said he is confident that he is going to make Sedibeng and his school proud. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport, that he was ready and looking forward to this event.

However, it will be not the first time Shamase competes at this level,  last year he represented this region in cross-country in Port Elizabeth.

“I have already started with preparations and I’m ready and prepared for this event.  I’m going to make Sedibeng and my school proud bringing home a medal. With all the support that I receive from, my school, parents, coaches, and community I won’t disappoint them,” he told Sedibeng Ster Sport.

Angie Moono who is the school sports coordinator was also confident that Shamase is going to make the school proud.

“We decided to organise this event to appreciate the effort of Shamase for being the only learner from our school to represent Sedibeng in the province. At school, we are very proud of him and we will give him the support that he needs,” said Moono.
