VEREENIGING.- A Checkers Sixty60 motorbike driver suffered serious injuries after allegedly being knocked down by a white Isuzu van on the morning of May 20.

The incident occurred on Jan Van Riebeck Street as both vehicles were travelling towards the town centre.
According to witnesses at the scene, the scooter driver was travelling ahead of the van after passing through a set of traffic lights.

“We do not know what apparently distracted the driver of the van, but he was making a left turn into the filling station when the accident happened.”

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after the incident.

Paramedics treated the injured motorcyclist before transporting him to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
