THE Islamic School’s open division boys’ team has once again scooped a victory at the AMS Provincial Volleyball Tournament held at the Zakariyya Muslim School in Stanger recently. Eight schools from around Kwa-Zulu Natal took part.
The team, comprising Muahmmad Bhaiyat, AbuBakr Desai (captain), Ridwaan Desai, Umar Farooq Desai, Uzair Desai, Irshaad Mahomed, Muhammad Idris Shaik, Mohammed Saaber Sheik and Salmaan Yunous defied all odds, winning both games in the final. The 25 -13 score in the first game and 25-10 in the second, declared them outright contenders and formidable stars.
The win was clinched against the host team at their home ground and the dedicated coach, Mr Shuaib Sheik Fareed praised ‘his boys’ for their excellent team effort and sportsmanship, saying that the team was no stranger to success as this is their second consecutive win. The returning champions of the provincial tournament were presented their trophies and medals by the principal, Moulana Khamissa at the Monday assembly.
