Couple take ‘the leap’ on February 29

They don't see future anniversary celebrations as a problem.

Umtentweni couple Leann Myburgh and Jacques Muller are looking forward to tying the knot on leap day this Saturday, February 29.

Their families were taken aback at their choice of date, however, 46 guests will be in attendance to witness their wedding in Uvongo.

“Initially, we couldn’t decide on a date. We are seen as a unique couple, especially how we tackle different things, so we decided to get married on leap day,” said Jacques.

They met at high school, and have been a couple since 2015, moving down to the coast a few years ago.

The wedding has been two years in the planning. After setting the date, they started saving up.

Jacques Muller and Leann Myburgh dressed up for pre-wedding celebrations.

“As with any wedding, we are a bit nervous. We are finalising preparations including the decorations which we are doing ourselves as we are quite particular about what we like,” said Jacques.

Also, they don’t see future anniversary celebrations as a problem.

“The plan is to do something big every four years. But we will celebrate every year, either on February 28 or March 1,” said Jacques.
