Tuning In: Great support for addiction recovery run

Richard Harvey of Waynol Anti-Narcotics Agency is running for recovery from addiction.

I know that the community will join me in sending heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Soraya Smith of Umkomaas who died recently.

Personally I am very sad, as Soraya saved my life.

Another member of the community who died recently is Brett Rowe. Very sad news indeed. Condolences to his family and friends.

He starts in Ballito on Friday, November 13 stopping over in Scottburgh on Tuesday, November 17 on his way to Munster.

He will have a sports massage by Bronlynne Booysen.

Dr Vi Longmore has sponsored a PUREiv sportsfit drip the day before he starts running and on the day he is in Scottburgh.

Numerous members from Scottburgh Athletics Club will be running a part of the way with him from Scottburgh to Hibberdene.

Club members are also contributing towards a kitty for him to buy proper nutrition for the run.

Eden River Lodge in Freeland Park is sponsoring a night’s stay before he sets off for Hibberdene.

I know that the community will wish Richard a wonderful journey to his final destination in Munster on Friday, November 20.

Walkers/runners can join the Scottburgh Athletics Club at the golf club on Wednesdays at 5pm.

Kiah Keet and Jodie du Plessis have joined forces to try and uplift the community by giving people a chance to sell their handmade/homemade goods, and to raise awareness for several non-profit organisations (NPOs)

Kiah says that they are keeping the market’s vendors predominantly local (Scottburgh, Umkomaas and Pennington) as they are trying to give people the opportunity to make a bit of money after the negative effect that Covid-19 has had on our community.

Two dates have been secured – December 5 at the Scottburgh Country Club and December 16 at Selborne Golf Course where The Kickstands will also be playing live music.

If anyone is interested in being a part of the market, contact Kiah at 063 1412990 or Jodie at 073 2099313.
