Couple found guilty of Sheppie man’s murder

The case was postponed to March.

Joash Govindsamy (28) and his wife Aveshnee Naidoo (22) from Phoenix have been found guilty of murdering Bryson Munilall (27) outside a Durban nightclub on November 5, 2022.

Munilall (27), formerly from Port Shepstone, was leaving the nightclub with his sister, Caroline and two other relatives, when they got into a car park altercation with the Phoenix couple, and others on Chris Hani Road.

Magistrate Mayne Mewalall recently found the couple guilty in the Durban Regional Court.

On the fateful day in 2022, Govindsamy stabbed Munilall multiple times and he died at the scene.

When Munilall’s sister Caroline tried to intervene, Naidoo assaulted her.
The court also found Naidoo guilty of intent to do grievous bodily harm, for assaulting Caroline.

The case was postponed to March 4 for the probation officers’ reports.
Bryson was the son of Bryan Munilall, a magistrate at Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court.
