Missing Sawoti man murdered by brother

Sizwe Msawenkosi Hlongwane's burnt body as well as his burnt vehicle was pointed out by his brother Sibusiso Hlongwane.

Sibusiso Hlongwane (31) was found guilty and sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment for the murder of his brother in the Sawoti area earlier this year.

A missing person’s report was filed for Sizwe Msawenkosi Hlongwane (37) of Ncazuka on January 19 at Sawoti Saps, after he failed to return to his residence after vising family the previous day.

Detectives conducted investigations into his disappearance and focused on a close relative – his brother Sibusiso.

He was then arrested on February 2 and pointed out where he had dumped the body of the deceased.

Police followed up on this information and discovered Sizwe’s badly burnt body as well as his burnt vehicle in the Ncazuka area.

Shortly after, Sibusiso first appeared in the Dududu District Court on murder charges.

He then made his final court appearance in the Scottburgh Regional Court on November 18, and received his 18-year sentence. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Investigations were spearheaded by Detective Sergeant Mfanelo Mchunu.
