Rough but Ready Shellhole at Mbango Valley held its annual Moths Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day) last Sunday morning, which started with a parade and was followed by a service.
This event is observed around the world every 11th day of the 11th month.

The Shellhole’s Lew Lloyd-Evans said the event was to remember those who had died in war.
Remembrance Day serves as a time to remember those who paid the ‘ultimate price’ in World War 1, as well as veterans who have fought and died in war since.

The red poppy has become the symbol by which this event is commemorated each year.

Community members who were present were also provided a chance to remember their family members who had lost their lives. They were given a cross to lay down with the wreaths.
