Staff injured after fire at nursery school

Two staff members sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

A fire broke out at a nursery school in Port Shepstone, prompting a swift response from KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service on Tuesday this week.

The spokesman for KZN Private Ambulance, Craig Botha, said fortunately, all children were safely evacuated by the school’s staff before emergency personnel arrived.

“Paramedics assessed the scene and provided immediate medical care to two staff members who sustained serious injuries. Once stabilised, they were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment,” said Botha.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities have launched an investigation.
