An inter-school cross-country event was hosted by Pennington Primary School at the Rocky Bay Trails last Wednesday. I hear the children had a fantastic time.
Clansthal has announced a new drop off point for recycling – the open area under the power lines on Palmkloof Road. Recycling dates are: September 3 and 17, October 8 and 22, November 5 and 19 and December 10.
A special birthday wish to Nicky Koekemoer of 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue. We are so lucky to have her in our area. She cares deeply for all animals. Hope she has a wonderful birthday!

• Pennington Community Watch is holding its AGM at Pennington Ski Boat Club this Thursday (28th), from 17:00.
• There is a picnic celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Pennington Methodist Church this Friday (29th), from 14:00 to 19:00. Bring cutlery and crockery; fires will be provided for braais – bring family and friends, the more the merrier. Entry is free – donations are welcome for the roof fund. Live music; tea and coffee will be provided.

Sym will be hosted by The Sanctuary of the Great White Light, 9 Barrow Street, Umkomaas this Sunday (31st) at 10:00.
There will be a short talk and messages from Spirit. All are welcome to this free event. Bookings are not required, but attendees are encouraged to come early for a seat.
• The NG Kerk of Scottburgh is hosting White Pine Pictures presenting a special screening of Plastic People, The Hidden Crisis of Microplastics on Sunday September 7 at 17:00. Admission is a donation. Film Synopsis: The ground-breaking feature documentary: Plastic People Investigates our addiction to plastic and the growing threat of microplastics on human health. Almost every bit of plastic ever made breaks down into ‘microplastics’. These microscopic particles drift in the air, float in all bodies of water, and mix into the soil, becoming a permanent part of the environment. Film run time: 82 minutes.
• Support local artists in the Musicals in Dance production. This event will be held at Scottburgh High on September 12 at 18:30 and September 13 at 14:00. Food stalls and doors opens at 12:00. Tickets are available at Scottburgh Health & Beauty Institute and Scottburgh High.
• The Hope Fundraising Festival, brought to the people of the South Coast by District 49 Child & Youth Care Centre supported by Lightness Productions, will light up the Blue Marlin All Inclusive Seascape in Scottburgh on October 4. Under the banner, ‘We care through love and protection’, this community celebration seeks to rally families, businesses and volunteers for an afternoon of sport, music and joyful giving, all to secure vital funds for children who have endured abuse, neglect or abandonment. More details will be revealed in time for this fundraiser.
• A 5km Colour Fun Walk for breast cancer awareness will be held at the market on Scottburgh Marine Terrace on October 5 . More details to come. Vendors booking: 072 5078773.
