The South Coast Striders conquered the Comrades Marathon Down Run, from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.

Of the 30 who entered, 26 completed the epic run. One didn’t start and three didn’t finish – there’s always next year.

The runners powered through, demonstrating incredible grit and determination.
Peter Brino Chidzungu blazed the trail, securing a silver medal (under 7:30:00) and an outstanding 143rd place overall.

Striders also bagged three Bill Rowan medals (under nine hours), nine Robert Mtshali medals (under 10 hours), nine bronze medals (under 11 hours), and four Vic Clapham medals (under 12 hours).

This stellar performance was matched by the equally enthusiastic support crew, who cheered on the runners with enthusiasm.

The Striders can now enjoy some well earned rest ahead of the ‘Aches and Pains’ party at Margate Country Club.
