A TOTAL of 17 motorists were arrested during an evening roadblock conducted on the M35/Umbumbulu Road by the metro police on July 17.

Metro police spokesperson Boysie Zungu said 14 men and three women were arrested.

“The Durban Metropolitan Police Service reminds all motorists that drinking and driving is a criminal offence that places innocent road users at serious risk. If you plan to consume alcohol, arrange for a sober driver, use public transport, or make use of a ride-hailing service. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone,” said Zungu.
