AAC’s 10km club champs will take place on Sunday, 4 August at the Merewent 10km in Dhubri Road grounds. The race starts at 7am. Contact Pat on 083-739-1248. This course is a flat, fast route with athletes still having to work hard. Fast times are expected. The club tent will be available for all athletes to enjoy a burger and refreshment afterwards.

Athletes competing in any road races must remember their Toti vest, with their age category on the front and back, and only plain black running shorts are permitted.

This year’s Goss and Balfe marathon is strictly a pre-entry event and entries close on 30 September. The race is on Sunday, 6 October starting at 6am. A free train ride will take the 21km athletes to Illfracombe station and marathon runners to the Scottburgh start. Both races end at Hutchison Park.

The entry fee is R130 for the marathon and R90 for the half-marathon. All athletes receive a goodie bag and a T-shirt.

Cut-off time for the marathon is 5.30pm and for the half 3.30pm. Entry forms can be downloaded from www.totiac.co.za.

Durban is proud to host the 13th World Transplant Games. The closing ceremony takes place on Saturday, 3 August and more than 1,800 athletes from 50 countries compete in the largest sporting event for recipients of donor organs.

The club had some good results, but the main focus was to give athletes and parents some exposure to the competitive environment of KZN Athletics.

The club thanks all parents who assisted with transport and supported their children.

Walkers who completed the 10km walk at the Total women’s run and walk were Andrea Kretschman, Bets Lubbe, Jean Rees, Barbara Wagner, Jackie Wagner, Pam Yelseth, Irene Bohmer.
