At wit’s end over traffic junction

Traffic lights that are badly needed at the intersection of Moss Kolnick and Blaze roads.

EDITOR – I refer to last week’s letter to the editor from ‘Safety first’ in connection with the traffic lights that are badly needed at the intersection of Moss Kolnick and Blaze roads.

I am very surprised they were never put up when Galleria Mall was first opened. Surely the powers-that-be know by now how dangerous it is?

A massive number of very heavy trucks shoot past that intersection every day at breakneck speed with absolutely no regard for the 60km/h speed limit.

Then you get the people who are too scared to go, so they sit there forever, which results in a long line of cars waiting to turn right from Blaze Road into Moss Kolnick. I run a bed and breakfast and have a lot of corporate clients who stay with me. They often complain they are delayed and arrive late because that intersection is so blocked with traffic.

It is not only my guests, but everyone else from this area trying to get onto the N2 to go to work who are also always late no matter what time they leave.

We either need traffic lights there or, if the road is wide enough, we should have a large traffic circle to keep the traffic flowing.

Is there any chance we can get an answer about this, so we can at least find out if this is on the cards?
