Fundraising for seniors home water tanks fails
THE health of residents of Jabulani Home for the Aged will continue to be at risk, if three asbestos drinking water tanks are not urgently replaced at the 12-storey building in Warner Beach.

“Asbestos is a health hazard and the tanks are as old as the building,” said Errol Theron, who along with his wife, Sharon-Ann are co-ordinating a fundraiser to replace the tanks with two 5,000 litre plastic tanks.
Jabulani needs to raise R60,000 to have the tanks drained, dismantled and replaced. Although the public fundraising drive got off the ground two weeks ago, no funds have been forthcoming, much to the dismay of the Therons.
To raise money for the project, Jabulani will hold a morning market at its premises in Sutton Lane on Saturday, 14 September. A variety of items such as books, bric-a-brac and food will be on sale. The community is urged to go along and support it.
Businesses and the public are urged to support the fundraising drive. Anyone making a donation of R1,000 and more will be listed on the adjacent barometer until the target is reached.
