Tourism welcomes private entities’ aid in staging events

What Mr Blake has forgotten to mention, was that I suggested he apply again as we welcome and encourage local businesses to get involved.

EDITOR – Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Garfield Blake’s letter.

What Mr Blake has forgotten to mention, was that I suggested he apply again as we welcome and encourage local businesses to get involved and come up with ideas that together can make a difference in our communities.

It would be better for us to have private entities running facilities, activities and services that employ members of the community. As explained to Mr Blake, we cannot do everything, so we welcome these private entities.

It is very frustrating to receive complaints like this, that I have no control over. As explained to Mr Garfield, we are volunteers to Sapphire Coast Toti Tourism and do not get paid a cent for our time, which equates to sometimes over 100 hours a month. We are trying to make a difference so instead of fighting us, assist us or work with us to improve our town.

I also expressed compassion with Mr Blake that his ‘proposal’ was denied five years ago and I couldn’t comment on why it was, as I wasn’t around at that point.

As Mr Beetge has answered the rest correctly, I hope this clears up the accusations made.
