TO commemorate Youth Day on Monday, 16 June, a festival showcasing music, poetry and dance will take place in Danganya Area 9 in Umgababa.
Co-ordinator of the event, Sbonelo Maphumulo, along with a committee comprising three others calls on young people in the area to participate in or attend the event.
There will be something for everyone, such as kwaito, hip-hop, poetry recitals and cha-cha dancers.
“About 20 people have so far committed to showing off their various talents,” said Sbonelo.
The aim of the festival is to get the youth together. “Lots of young people are using drugs or involved in crime. I want them to participate in such events, which gives them opportunities to network and talk to each other.”
