RESIDENTS of Jabulani Home for the Aged in Warner Beach are in the final throes of preparing for their annual fundraising fete on Saturday, 7 June.
There will be lots of items on sale such as crafts, plants, bric-a -brac, second-hand clothes and beadwork. Shoppers will be able to browse among the various stalls, which will advertise its wares with colourful banners, specially-sewn by some of the residents. Get in your festive shopping early at the St Winifreds Evening Women’s Institute’s Christmas in June table.
There will also be variety of games on hand, the perfect opportunity to make it a fun-filled family morning. For the hungry, various food items will be sale, bacon and egg rolls, breyani, samoosas, boerewors rolls, pickles, jams and much more.
The hall in the building will be converted into a tea garden, which will have a variety of sweet treats, either to enjoy on the premises or buy to take home.
“Funds raised at the fete helps with the maintenance of the building. We want to keep the rents as low as possible for our residents. We are also upgrading some of the flats, to improve their living conditions,” said Beth Duncan of Jabulani.
Jabulani has some 79 residents, all of whom have worked tirelessly to prepare items for its biggest annual fundraiser. The public is urged to go along and support the golden oldies at 6 Sutton Lane, from 7.30am to 1pm.
If you have miscellaneous items in good condition for donation, contact them on 031-916-1231.
