Police recover car before owner knew it was stolen

Owner thanked task team members for the speedy recovery.

TOTI police made an arrest and recovered a car without the owner being aware it had been stolen.

Natasha Lopes parked her VW Golf at her home in Ross Street, Amanzimtoti on Thursday, 26 June at about 11pm.

The next morning she got a call from Toti task team member, Cst Sumayela that her vehicle had been recovered in Umlazi.

At the time of the call, she was unaware that her vehicle had been stolen. She thanked the task team members for the speedy recovery, support and assistance she received from the time of the call until she got to the police station to identify the vehicle. She also thanked Sgt Greg Lander-Ritchie for his assistance at the community service centre.

She relocated to Toti in December 2013 from Nelspruit and is a teacher at Toti High School.

A case of theft of motor vehicle was opened.

In unrelated cases, Toti police recovered two other stolen vehicles. A maroon Toyota Yaris was stolen in Princeville Road, Illovo Beach between 10pm and 6.15am, between 25 and 26 June. It was found abandoned in Mfume on 26 June by Toti uniform members.

A white VW Polo TDI stolen from Beach Road, Toti on 28 June, between 8am and 8.30am was found abandoned on the R102 in Scottburgh on the same day by Toti task team members.
