Lifesaving club looks forward to competition season

The fun golf day took place on 29 December and Mike the German certainly had all the moles digging deeper.

THE December festive period was certainly very busy at Winklespruit Surf Lifesaving Club, and the committee commends and thanks all the active members who performed their duties over this period.

Keep up the good work.

The results of the Winkle-Toti-Winkle Ski Race and Run were published in an earlier publication but the club once again thanks principle sponsor Lords and Legends, Victory Spar and Victory Tops in Warner Beach, Hypersure as well as all the other sponsors who helped make the race enjoyable.

The conditions on the day were pretty miserable but the race was enjoyed by all who participated. Thanks also to the local running and lifesaving clubs for their ongoing support.

The fun golf day took place on 29 December and Mike the German certainly had all the moles digging deeper. Among all the advice he received, he only needs to heed one – next year just bring your putter along, what he did with all his other clubs he can do with his putter. At prize-giving all the first time participants in the golf day enjoyed a drink from the Leg.

The new years eve party was enjoyed by members and friends. Rumour has it that Sarah really enjoyed the evening, she will be called in front of the committee to explain the psychedelic colouring on the grass in front of the club.

As with all goods things, they come to an end and now the serious part of the lifesaving calendar takes place – competition. Training has been arranged by club captain Gareth Hazell, and all competitors are to contact him for details. The first competition is in two weeks’ time at Warners.

Nipper training started this previous Sunday with the nippers enjoying the sea for most of the training. Nippers are also in for a busy time with examinations and competitions coming up. Parents will be advised of all the events so look at your email and Whatsapp messages. It was certainly a good festive season for nipper officer Gary, who pulled a fat while challenging the nippers to a race and at the time of going to the press, he pulled another fat whilst gardening at home. He is now on a strict health plan.

See you on the beach.
