Shave or spray at this year’s Shavathon

We encourage people to get their colleagues, family and friends ready for this year's Shavathon.

Toti residents are urged to participate in this year’s Shavathon taking place at Pick n Pay Arbour Crossing on Saturday, 28 February.

“You can shave, spray or wrap your hair on the day and donate to show your support for a cancer victim,” said store manager, Leonard Arjunun.

The cost is R50 per adult and R25 per child under 12-years-old, from 9am to 1pm.

The day will also feature snacks and sweets for the little ones and a Pick n Pay hamper give-away.

“Cansa held its first Shavathon 12 years ago and in 2015, the event is still going strong, with men, women, children, caregivers, cancer survivors and people whose lives have been personally touched by cancer rallying the troops and joining the nationwide event, each with their own reason for getting involved,” said Cansa mobiliser, Diane Saunders.

“When people head out to local shopping centres on Saturday, 28 February and at selected venues on Sunday, 1 March, they will have the opportunity to shave their hair, donate their ponytail of about 25cm in length that will go toward making wigs for cancer patients in need, or purchase a Cansa wrap or spray their hair.

We have created a range of trendy new stencils that can be used for anyone of all ages interested in spraying their hair. The spray is made from vegetable dye and is safe to use. It lasts only a day and washes out easily.

We encourage people to get their colleagues, family and friends ready for this year’s Shavathon.”
