UMBUMBULU police arrested two men aged 24 and 33 on Thursday, 12 February in connection with a robbery which occurred at Mphusheni Reserve.
“It is alleged the men accosted three women at gunpoint in their tuck shop. They robbed them of three cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash. They fled on foot and members of the community alerted a passing patrol van. Police arrested the men and recovered three cell phones, stolen cash as well as a toy gun used in the commission of crime,” said Col Jay Naicker of the KZN police media centre.
The men are expected to appear in Umbumbulu Magistrate’s Court soon.
KZN provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended Umbumbulu police for their quick response. “We appreciate the efforts of the community, however we also wish to warn the public that they should not take the law into their own hands. We need to work together to bring the perpetrators of crimes to book so that they will be prosecuted for their wrongful actions,” she said.
