Parabat canopy aims to unite ex-paratroopers
To promote traditions of the paratroopers locally and internationally.

IF you qualified as a South African military paratrooper, who are often referred to as Parabats, you are invited to attend the inaugural meeting of the KwaZulu-Natal Canopy of the South African Paratroopers Association.
“Paratroopers the world-over share a special and common bond and the idea of forming a provincial canopy is to promote the esprit-de-corps and traditions of the paratroopers locally and internationally,” said Gavin Moultrie, a South African paratrooper who did his jump course, to qualify for his Parabat wings in 1974.
Gavin is one of the key organisers behind the KZN Canopy initiative.
“There are many past paratroopers scattered across the province who have expressed an interest in strengthening and improving the airborne comradeship. Apart from regular communication of international and South African paratroopers news and updates to members, the KwaZulu-Natal Canopy will also organise events and get togethers on special airborne days and occasions.”
Membership is also open to paratroopers who qualified in other countries.
The inaugural meeting of the KwaZulu-Natal Canopy of the South African Paratroopers Association will be held at the DLI Hall on Monday, 2 March at 6pm. For further queries, contact Gavin on 082-350-7975.
