Work crew’s cuttings left to attract vermin
It remains a dangerous fire hazard as well.
EDITOR – Some time ago, a work crew came to clear the vegetation growing between Link Road and a building known as Brigadoon.
They cut down the flora using chain saws.
They not only cut down alien vegetation but also indigenous, endangered vegetation which should have been preserved. The endangered flora could have made our environment look attractive.
The workmen left the area without clearing what they had cut down and carting it away. It looks unsightly and will attract rodents and snakes, not to mention that it remains a dangerous fire hazard as well.
I spoke to local councillor Andre Beetge, who told me it was a private concern that was commissioned to trim and cut back the unruly bush. I feel that something should be done to clear the debris away so that it doesn’t constitute a fire hazard. It is hoped that this issue will be attended to without too much delay, once someone is prepared to assume full responsibility for this matter. I’ve enclosed a few photos of the mess.
