How to outsmart supermarket thief
Thief at work in the supermarket in Doonside
EDITOR – There is at least one thief at work in the supermarket in Doonside who is very experienced and professional, therefore well nigh impossible to catch.
I therefore take the following precautions.
I never put the following in my purse: A large sum of money, just change; any important cards like debit or credit cards; ID or driver’s licence and so on. All these I put in a secret bag attached to the lining of my handbag which can be zipped up.
if someone deliberately bumps into you, you should scream ‘help’
In fact, even my purse is attached to my handbag by means of a ribbon. You see, they have to be very quick, there is no time to search through a handbag so they just snatch the purse. Even having all that in an envelope is already safer. The aisle where the cleaning materials are is completely secluded, with hardly any traffic at all. So that will be the ideal place for a robbery.
I also think if someone deliberately bumps into you, you should scream ‘help’ and if a shop assistant comes running then say ‘someone tried to attack me – that person over there’. I do think if we all take extra precautions, especially when bending down to look for something, we can beat them at their own game, and they will eventually try their luck somewhere else.
