City wants to hear citizens’ water woes

Civil society organisations are called on give input.

ETHEKWINI Municipality’s water and sanitation unit has established a programme to actively involve residents to monitor water and sanitation services.

This is being done through Raising Citizens’ Voice in the Regulation of Water Services programme.

Programme co-ordinator in the water and sanitation unit, Bongani Hlophe said this process has been successful as it has helped the municipality to establish a two-way communication channel with citizens of eThekwini on water and sanitation-related matters.

“We call upon civil society organisations around the city who are interested in giving input on water and sanitation services to participate in this programme,” urged Hlophe.

This is a voluntary programme and a call is made for organisations wishing to partner with the unit to make the city water wise.

Organisations which wish to participate should email Bongani at bongani.hlophe@durban.gov.za.
