Thieves’ plans go awry

Blue Security reaction officer, Mbuyiselo Mdunjane went around the mall and apprehended the two men.

Toti’s crime fighter is back on the prowl.

George Snodey noticed two men carrying a vacuum cleaner, as he drove onto the Winklespruit off-ramp at about 10am on Monday, 14 December.

“I kept an eye on them and saw them cross the R603 and behind the DSM Mall,” said George, who is still recovering from a near-fatal car accident a few months ago.

He called the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) for back-up and Blue Security reaction officer, Mbuyiselo Mdunjane went around the mall and apprehended the two men.

After interrogating them, the men admitted to stealing the vacuum cleaner and other items from Tecoma Pre-Primary School on Sunday, 13 December.

When they took George and Mbuyiselo to their hiding place, they found two 20-litre tins of paint. “They stole four tins, but had already sold two. They were in the process of taking the vacuum cleaner to sell when we intercepted them,” said George.

The items were returned to the school after they were positively identified and the two thieves handed over to Toti SAPS.
