Don’t live to say ‘if only’

I wish these 'parents' could spend one day at a mortuary facility and see what a precious little child looks like after being ejected or flung out of a speeding car that was involved in an accident.

EDITOR – I totally agree with Concerned Parent (in a letter published in the South Coast Sun dated 29 January) about children being unsecured in motor vehicles.

I cringe every time I see a child unrestrained on the back seat of a car and get so very angry when I see them standing on the back seat or between adults sitting in the front.

I have dealt with deceased people for over 30 years and have seen all the gore, blood, broken bones and disfigured little faces involved in motor vehicle accident cases.

I wish these ‘parents’ could spend one day at a mortuary facility and see what a precious little child looks like after being ejected or flung out of a speeding car that was involved in an accident. Even if they do survive, they will be scarred or maimed for life, and the parents would probably end up saying two little words: “If only”. Please parents – be responsible and buckle up your little ones.
