Awesome support for Faron-Mae fundraiser

The support from everyone has been amazing.

Support from the Toti public made the Faron-Mae Fisher Splash fundraiser at Splash Waterworld on Friday, 18 March a huge success.

“It was only possible because of our amazingly supportive and caring local community. Local businesses, privately owned businesses and individuals helped us make this event so spectacular and great,” said Faron-Mae’s mother Paula.

Five-year-old Faron-Mae was diagnosed with glycogen storage type 0 in June 2012 at 18 months of age and her parents continuously fundraise to afford her ongoing medical bills.

“Organising a fundraiser is never an easy task. Asking for help and sponsorship for these types of events is really difficult for my husband Dean and I, because it’s for our little girl and we are emotionally attached. Sometimes it’s hard to detach yourself emotionally from the “Sorry, no we aren’t interested”, which leaves you feeling demotivated and saddened.

Fortunately in our community it’s usually “Yes we would love to support and help your little girl”. It’s these amazing individuals and businesses that make it all worthwhile.

The support from everyone has been amazing. Whether you helped us with the sponsorship of prizes or you supported us on the night, it is greatly appreciated.”

The Fishers thank Anne Clayton of Splash Waterworld. “For the second consecutive year this special woman has given us 110% support of our fundraiser for Faron-Mae and for this we are extremely grateful.”

In 2015 about R7,500 was raised and this year they were overjoyed to almost double it and hit their target of R13,000, excluding the raffles and lucky draw.

“The turnout really blew us away and it was very moving. Thank you Amanzimtoti for helping us make a big change in our little girl’s life,” said Paula.

Faron-Mae’s story has even reached as far as Australia, where an ex-Toti local made a generous donation of R10,000 into her trust. “Thank you Dave Whiting from Darwin for your support of our little girl. Thank you to everyone who has helped with donations into her trust – every little bit helps us with feeds, medical and therapy bills.”

The next fundraiser for Faron-Mae is the anual golf day at Umdoni Golf Club in Pennington in July. If any businesses would like to sponsor a hole for the day, market at a hole, or sponsor prizes, call Paula on 082-304-8195 or Dean on 083-278-8040.
