Amanzimtoti mother and daughter master their degrees

"The strength a study buddy gives you to carry on and push through is something vitally important when tackling something as challenging as your masters," -Gail.

MOTHER and daughter duo, Gail and Samantha Schreiner have proven to be more than capable team after they completed their masters degrees. They are now aiming to study towards their PhDs.

Gail completed her masters in Social Science, while daughter Samantha completed hers in English Literature. Both started in 2015 and completed their course at the end of last year through UKZN.

“So many times, one of us would feel absolutely saturated. The strength a study buddy gives you to carry on and push through is something that is vitally important when tackling something as challenging as your masters,” said Gail.

“Tackling this together united us further as mother and daughter as we built an even stronger bond,”said Gail.

“I was not in the ‘studying game’ for a long time before and forgot simple things like how to reference correctly. I’m grateful to Samantha for being there to help me out,” she said.

While Samantha is 25-years-old, Gail is just shy of 60, but they are ready to take on the challenge of studying towards their PhDs together.
