A STRAY cow wandering along the N2 caused havoc last week, leaving a young motorcyclist dead and a number of motorists injured in various, related accidents.

In the early hours of Monday morning, 28 March, Toti’s Warren Botes (18) died and his brother Deon broke his leg, when their motorbike hit the back of a stationary truck.

The truck driver had apparently stopped because a cow was obstructing a lane on the N2 south, near the airport.


THE supervisor of the Sea Towers flat block, Kirby Fourie (72) fell to his death early last week.

Mr Fourie fell down a flight of stairs and struck his head. Despite paramedics arriving shortly after their call-out, Mr Fourie died of his injuries.


A TOTI man was shot dead while he waited for a breakdown vehicle near Montclair last week.

Daniel Knoesen had entered the Kentucky Fried Chicken on Swinton Road around noon on Wednesday when he was approached by four men.

Two approached him from the front and two from behind. Mr Knoesen allegedly tried to defend himself and in the process, shot and wounded one assailant.


“SOMETHING needs to be done urgently” is the plea from the parents of a young Toti boy who died after being knocked down in Beach Road last week.

Wayde Rogers (6) of Afsaal Flats was knocked down as he was crossing the road with a friend on his way to Sanlam Centre at 5.50pm on Tuesday, 29 March.

His mom Rosemary and dad Craig said Wayde had gone to the shops with an older friend when the accident happened. They crossed the road with another couple and their two children, but Wayde was lagging a bit behind.


PUPILS who use buses to get to school will be transported by a new company at the start of the second term.

The Bellingan Bus Company withdrew its service at the end of the first term and is to be replaced by Singh’s Tours of Umkomaas.

The collection times and routes will all remain the same at the start of the second term, according to company spokesman David Naidoo.
