Successful clean-up at little Amanzimtoti River

The joint initiative was conducted between Clean Surf Project, Sapphire Coast Tourism, eThekwini Parks, Beach Cleansing, Lifesavers, Beach Management, Cllr Andre Beetge and community members to clear the river embankment at the Little Amanzimtoti River.

Following the heavy rains in December that caused havoc along the coastline, due to waste being flushed from rivers straight into the ocean, a successful clean up was held on Saturday, 11 January at the little Amanzimtoti River, Warnadoone and Baggies Beach.

Clean surf’s Romy Wenzel said, “Clean Surf Project would like to thank each and everyone who participated in the clean ups throughout the holiday season, braving the sizzling heat and extremely hot sand.  Thumbs up to ATKV Natalia Resort for initiating beach clean ups at Illovo Beach, encouraging holidaymakers to play their part in protecting our environment.  It was a great pleasure and fun having spent time with like minded people.”

Apart from ongoing beach clean ups, the CSP team also joined the Sapphire Sizzling Summer 2019 Holiday Programme with Danny the Dolphin entertaining beach goers.
