The CCPO warns home owners to be wary of hiring unknown gardeners after a resident’s dog was poisoned and her house burgled by a man she had hired. “When employing someone, it is always better to get a reference from a previous employer. Ensure you get a copy of their ID and take a photo of them and let them know you are a member and will send the photo to the CCPO,” said committee member, George Snodey.
Two vehicle thieves are behind bars this week, thanks to the CCPO. One was nabbed after he and an accomplice attempted to steal a white Ford ranger in Beach Road, Amanzimtoti on Sunday evening, 15 March. One suspect was caught by members of the public. CCPO, ET Rapid Response and Blue Security officers responded, and handed him over to Toti SAPS.
CCPO officer Lloyd Maphumulo caught a suspect in the CBD and recovered stolen items after two motor vehicles were broken into at a complex in Beach Road, Amanzimtoti in the early hours of Friday morning, 13 March. The suspect broke the fence to gain access to the complex.
The CCPO also assisted in tracking down a fraud suspect wanted by SAPS detectives in Limpopo on Saturday, 14 March. The man was located in Manaba Beach near Margate and handed over.
