Help the elderly in Amanzimtoti

If we can get 12 people to assist with one nappy each, that would be amazing.

The Elder’s Voice asks the Toti public for donations of adult nappies. “We have got quite a few grannies who cannot afford diapers. Whenever I ask for assistance, the community is really awesome and they step up to the plate and help,” said founder, Joanne Herbst.

“I have done some research into cloth reusable adult diapers – they are not cheap, but I think it might just be the answer and it will be much kinder on the environment. If we can raise enough money to buy 12 nappies and see how they work, we can help four grannies.

If they work well, we can get one of our sewing grannies to make us a entire batch for all our oldies who use disposable diapers. They might even be able to sell them to other people who need them for their family members, creating a sustainable income for an able-bodied granny.”

The cheapest price Joanne has found is R349 for one diaper. “If we can get 12 people to assist with one nappy each, that would be amazing or if anyone knows of a company that is prepared to sponsor us a few, even better.”
