Taps run dry in Zwelisha
According to Max, there is no water to sanitise or prepare food.
Zwelisha area near Adams Mission has been without potable water for almost two months and residents have no hope that it will be restored.
Teacher, Max Mosia, who has found the lack of water unbearable said, “We have contacted the municipality several times. The explanation from the engineers has been ludicrous. There have been only a few times when a water tanker has been sent, but they fraudulently claim more. During level five of lockdown, we spent 20 days without receiving a drop of water. How is such a callous and evil act allowed to happen during a pandemic?”
According to Max, there is no water to sanitise or prepare food.
“We don’t know what is the cause of the problem. We don’t have any answers. These living conditions are inhumane and we don’t see the situation getting better any time soon.”

Ward 67 councillor, Makhosi Mbhele said, “Engineers are still busy trying to resolve the problem. The reservoir was initially for a few areas and now too many areas are connected to the same water supply. We are also still trying to assist residents with water tankers and Jojo tanks as well.”
eThekwini Municipality was contacted for comment, however, no response was received yet.
