A stolen bakkie was recovered and the driver detained in KwaMakhutha. “Our TRT members were patrolling when they noticed a white Ford Ranger stationary alongside the road, with one occupant and visible door lock damage. Assistance from Metro Police and Umlazi K9 unit members was requested and it was established that the VIN number by the windscreen had been obscured and the original VIN number on the chassis did not correspond with the license disc and plate,” said ET’s Tony Lokker. A VIN number was retrieved via the vehicle electronic system and the vehicle was established as wanted in a Toti theft of motor vehicle case. It was impounded by Metro Police for further investigation.
