Sapphire Coast Tourism creates incredible memories over long weekend

Apart from recent beach activations, SCT is proud to showcase the lovely murals in Amanzimtoti and surroundings.

Sunny weather coupled with an incredible vibe drew in holidaymakers and beachgoers over the long weekend. In light of September being Heritage, Tourism and Environmental Month, Sapphire Coast Tourism (SCT) in partnership with Durban Tourism was delighted to offer entertainment to SCT Coasters as well as holidaymakers that flocked to Amanzimtoti Main Beach during the course of the long weekend.

It was refreshing to see beachgoers from all walks of life enjoying our beautiful Sapphire Coastline, having fun in the sun as well as being treated to some magical sounds from the Marimba Band, followed by the fun rickshaw rides, free for the public to enjoy, as well as DJ Fluffy who provided much needed holiday vibes,” said the organisation’s, Romy Wenzel.

With lockdown regulations being eased, the accommodation sector, in particular self-catering establishments experienced an increase in occupancy rates. This was due to the recent SA Cross Country Champs that were held at Hutchison Parkas well as the long weekend in celebration of Heritage Day. With the hopes for more visitors to explore the region in light of the upcoming October school holidays.

“Apart from recent beach activations, SCT is proud to showcase the lovely murals in Amanzimtoti and surroundings. Local artist, Christine Andrews, has been working very hard to beautify the Umdoni Road Railway Bridge, Amanzimtoti, displaying nature, birdlife as well South Africa’s country flag to not only attract visitors, even more so to uplift the CommUNITY’s spirit.”

In addition, the SCT team thanks all existing members as well as new establishments for signing up with the local community organisation and wishes to encourage members to upload and share the latest video highlighting the Sapphire Coast Tourism’s Coastal Route to attract more visitors to the area.
