Owner Anita Gerber said that despite the dedicated efforts of about 80 community members who have been searching daily, 16-year Matilda is yet to be found. “She is deaf, very sickly and quite old. She must be out there suffering every night. Please help us find her,” she said.

She went missing from her home at 124 Umdoni Road and is said to have been spotted on Dick King Road in Athlone Park as well as at the Bird Sanctuary in Amanzimtoti. “Unfortunately, every time we put blankets out for her, they get stolen,” said Gerber.

A #FindMatilda campaign has been started, with Gerber offering a R500 reward for the safe return of her furbaby.

If Matilda is spotted or picked up, contact Anita Gerber on 064 858 6112 or 082 857 3387. You can also join the WhatsApp group, ‘Finding Matilda‘, to assist in the search.
